The Shooter

by George Daranyi

Right about nowYou are askingAgainWho is this shooter?Who is this boy?Who the hell is he?Who is he, really?

I have heard it saidHe is a monster, a crazy monsterWell, let me tell you who he is:He is angryHe is sadHe is lonelyHe is lostHe is afraidHe is ashamedHe is woundedHe is trappedHe is hurtHe is disconnectedHe is aloneHe is dead–insideHe is desperate

He is no monsterHe is no crazy manYou know him very wellHe is me, at timesHe is you, at times

We must bring him homeOr our children will continue to dieWe must bring him to lifeOr, we will dieThe Shooter is usAll of us
